CIC Controller on a 2004 CCC unit

CIC Controller on a 2004 CCC unit
I've read around and can't seem to find a definitive answer, can you fit an early CIC controller to a older 2004 (pre-lci) CCC unit ?
I've read that you need to the CCC unit with 8 buttons, running the latest version and you need to swap some wires over.
I've got a the Pro CCC unit with the silver menu.
