I like chrome lips, but thats pretty much it. The finish on the face of the wheel should not be chrome though
+1...

I used to have 20" chrome wheels on my truck and they were nice and very high maintenance. I think chrome wheels are more suitable for SUVs.

If chrome has found its way into the cheaper market what has found its way to the higher class cars? alloy?
I'd much rather see a bimmer, benz, jag, cadillac with chrome wheels then seeing a ford, honda, mitsubishi etc w/ chrome rims. That just doesnt make sense to me.

just to name a few of the "usual suspects"

i dont know what its like in virginia, but around big cities THIS

has become an all too common image, which you can see, really weakens chrome reputation

think of it like this

that used to be cool, lets face it, tupac was a gangster
but than it turned into this

same thing, same tat, he went for "that look" but he just looks stupid

i really dont have anything against chrome, or white gangsters for that matter, its just my personal preference, you asked, so i told you

oh and e60 is most defiantly a sporty car, period.

i'd also rather not use the words "sickest, illest, etc..." to describe my $60,000 car. I can tell that I am geting older and my tastes are changing. I used to drive camaros and mustangs with $3000 stereo systems and chrome rims. I see the Chrysler 300s w/22 inch chromes, and I like it but it' sjust not for me.

+1

My daily beater car is a 98 Ford Explorer with chrome rims and a 4k stereo system. That was fine when I was 20 years old.

Now, when I see a chromed out car with a loud system I think "Ghetto". Its just a matter of taste and age.

+1. The whole dubs thing made me dislike chrome. BMW never originally manufactures chrome wheels for their cars. There may be some BMW wheels that are chrome, but this was done by special order or after the wheel was produced. There are reasons, both technologically and aesthetically, that BMW engineers design alloy wheels and not chrome wheels. My .02 cents...

The thing with chrome now is you'll see a person with a busted up car that barely works, yet they'll throw the loudest stereo and largest chrome wheel they can on their cars.

also to go into more detail, i think chrome is a flashy "look at me" type of thing, 95% of the time i see 22" chromes on a car, i hear this guy just blasting his little wayne or fat joe ridiculously loud, all windows down (most likely a 300c) but like i said i dont have anything against them, but bmw is more of a "refined and reserved car" if cars were people, rice burners are japanese kids wearing bright clothes trying to fight(race) everyone, while american muscle cars are jocks who are big and bulky and usually have the muscle to beat the crap out of you, the 22 chromes baller rides are well.. ballers, while german cars are that european guy who is dressed up in very nice yet subtle clothing and when he has to, he can mess things up.

i find subtle mods look the best, which chrome isnt.

its all personal preference, theres people who like to have a sporty e60 (the majority here) and people that like to have chrome dubs with 5+inch lips, but chrome has found its way into a cheaper market, so its like an anti thing for people who drive higher class cars
Exactly. It sounds elitist, but who cares? If I see chrome rims, I think of the ghetto. Sorry, but its true.

I am simply not a big fan of chrome. Chrome wheels tend to draw all the attention away from the car IMO. Simply not my taste. To each his own.
