Found this thread and decided to take mine out. wife timed it and it took 4:34. A short drive around the block and I determined it had a little better throttle response. Most likely gained a whopping 1-3 HP. Now I have to make a warranty claim, as BMW failed to install my intake styrofoam!!

I finally got the charcoal filter out. Mine was heat fused in. I scored the melted areas with a utility knife, then it took a bit of pressure with a screw driver and it popped out. Very sketchy, but it worked. If there was any difference, it was minimal--but I think I can imagine that it was better. I then got the K&N filter. I think it's better--both sounding and a bit more throttle response. Maybe its just placebo, but I am happy to keep it.

Hi all, I have the 100k warranty on my 2008 535. Anyone know if I have to take apart the housing (as some have stated need to be done to remove) will void the warranty or cause problems when i take it to the dealer? I know I can get it out with very little damage and even super glue it back together but its a sweet warranty and would hate to loose it. Dont know how picky the dealers are, guess it depends on which one, huh. Any help would be appreciated.
