Yea, I guess that's true about the stopping part, but he said over 100mph a 520i will have the same "acceleration" as a M5. That is what made me assume he meant otherwise.

Ok, but with an M5 you are often fast, with a 520i you have to get down and push before travelling at an high speed.

My experience with the Mini says when I had 170 HP I was fine with stock brakes and it was rare reaching 80-90 kmh in the city. Now with +40HP I'm often above 80-90kmh and I needed to upgrade brakes (Brembo 4 pots), because in the same situation now I would be faster than before.

In a difficult situation, with the M5 you can be at 160 kmh and with a 520i at 110.

Wait....What? Your reply made no sense whatsoever pertaining to the differences in acceleration between a M5 and a 520i. I never argued the fact that brembo brakes wouldn't make a difference. If you read my statement clearly I was simply correcting his reply that a 520i would accelerate as fast as a M5 past 100mph. I never mentioned anything about the stopping power distinction between stock and Brembo brakes. Please, don't reply to statements when you can't fully understand the meaning.

Bimmer: when I exit from my garage I use to accelerate fast: if a kid comes out from somewhere, with a 520i you have to brake from 50 kmh, with the M5 from 80. Is now clear? Did you fully understand?

If you never mentioned bla bla I don't know.. It was a reply for the thread, not just for you.

Again... please don't bother replying to statements, trying to defend yourself with no contribution to the thread itself. Wasting both my time and yours.

Pshhh why do I even bother rationalizing with someone so supercilious.

l o l, so the 520 should have M5 brakes from factory, okay, you are right.
Or the M5 brakes from 520i.

I profit of the topic to say I'm selling my m5 brakes.. I will install 118d set up.

Wow... I usually never bother replying to something so irrelevant, but this guy is hysterical.

That's because bigger & better brakes don't tend to help you stop that much faster, regardless of the speed. In a single stop, the determining factor for braking distance is tire grip (other than a small difference in amount of time it takes for the brakes to reach maximum clamping force).

The real difference is repeatability for track use: being able to haul you down from high speeds over and over and over again.
