Looks like I will have to purchase an Apple product for the first time since my Apple II+ in the early 80's. I have used Mac's at work but I never fell in love with them like many people do, so I never bought one for myself. However, if the Ipod integrates with my car then that's one Apple product that I will probably buy.

Huh? It should be a retrofit for your car. It will plug into the CD changer slot in the glove box.
In place of the CD Changer?? where did it say that? I still want my CD changer! I paied top dollar for that man!

Seems like good news!! I can't wait to start using my iPod video again if only they could make the video play from the iPod video on trip and BMW would be top shelf again.Today I dropped of my 545 for the MP3 update so thats going to hold me off till then wooo hooo ! (did I just say that )
P.S. I just read and watched the video on the www.ipodyourbmw.com site and it says that "The ipod interface cannot be used in conjunction with the Sirius Satellite radio and /or 6-disc CD-Changer "(*CD Changer has to be removed for the iPod interface) HOW FRIGGIN STUPID!!! WTH LOSE TWO SOURCES TO GAIN ONE !!!WHAT they better do something better then that man cause thats pure BS I barely want to give up the CD changer but I would consider it at least but I wouldn't consider losing SAT radio to gain my iPod thats like going backwards what are they doing. Has anyone else noticed this?

Great that integration is finally coming, but I'm dissapointed that the functionality is still based on the Dension system of 'playlists'.
I have over 300 albums on my ipod, which I can choose from in seconds using the clickwheel. This playlist system seems much more limited.
At the moment I have my ipod connected by 'aux in' and mounted where I can reach it whilst driving.
The only way I'd be tempted to alter this is if a 'proper' integration could be developed where the I'drive could replicate the clickwheel navigation.
Remember - if you go for this your ipod will be out of the way, where you can't reach it, so if you fancy somethig that is not on your limited playlists, you are going to have to wait until you can stop the car.
Also - the playlists can ONLY be set up in I-tunes so you are not going to be able to alter these on the fly.
