I took mine out yesterday, but did't tell to my wife. She took the car today and called me after 5 min. and asked what i did with the car, coz it felt more responsive. I said i washed it

So, am I to assume that you save that filter and put it back in when it's time to have the car smog checked?
What's the downside of not having the charcoal filter in? Will it mess up the engine in the long run?

I wondered the same thing...if I take it to the dealer for a check and the filter is missing will I get flack about warranty voids, etc?

I took out the filter and threw it away on my old 525. I never had a problem when taking it in for service.
I came to the conclusion that on my 535 it was never installed at the factory after looking for it for like 20 minutes, then just learned today it doesn't come with it. Anyone know why the 535's don't have one?
