Had someone tried Aux (audio) with iPod 4th generation ?
Is it better to add a preamplifier such as Belkin Auto Kit for iPod or isn't necessary ?

It won't matter what type of player or what generation Ipod. The pdf file seems to show a miniplug connector not a dock connector. You should be able to plug in any audio device output with the proper connector using the headphone jack.
The Ipod output is lower level than most audio devices. I think this is true of most mp3 players. Preamp wouldn't be necessary but you would need to adjust the volume switching between sources. Could use the belkin (I have) and feed the input from the adaptor headphone jack or add a Radio shack preamp to level out the volume to that of the other sources (eg cd player or radio).

I have a I-pod which is not so good with Aux-In, but also have the Sony NW-HD1 (which can play MP3 shortly) has a headphone or line-out output, so using Line-out setting the sound is a lot better.

iPod too has a line out (with craddle) and a headphone output on top and using Line-out the sound is a lot better (I think cause to a higher level in line-out as the standard required 1 volt pp)
