I have an E61 2008 mod with hifi sound system (676). I want to upgrade the sound system, and I?m considering these two amplifiers: Blaupunkt THA 555 PNP or Audison LRx 6.9. Bought are 5/6 channels and have about the same power. They also have High level input for the speakers output from the original audio system.

The price for the Blaupunkt is about ? 300 and the Audison is about ? 600. I?m also going to change the sub with two Earthquake SWS-8 sub, and mid ranger and tweeter with Logic7 or Individual. Does anyone have any experience with this amp? Is the Audison amp worth the extra moony? I?ve had Audison before in some cars, and they have been great, but I?ve never tried anything from Blaupunkt.

I think most car audiophiles will tell you the Audison is much better. Which amp you get depends upon what you are looking for in terms of sound. If you are going to use your stock head-unit and upgrade based upon it, continue reading. I currently use the OEM head unit with Focal drivers, Focal sub and a Focal 5 channel amp in one of my cars. Great gear, but I fairly sure I could have gotten the same sound for less money using lower grade equipment. I'm not saying the higher end stuff like Audison or Focal are not worth their salt. What I'm saying is that the stock head unit probably does not produce a signal good enough to warrant the higher end gear. It's a case of "what comes out depends on what you put in." You could you use amps and speakers that cost tens of thousands of Euro, but if the signal produced by the stock head-unit is not up to snuff, it would be complete waste of money because the sound coming out wouldn't be any better than the signal going in. Get what I mean? If you want bragging rights, get the Audison. If you want to add more 'punch' to your system without the cost, get the Blaupunkt and add the Earthquakes and moderately priced drivers that are better than your stock units.

I'm looking to upgrade my stock system too, I don't know what to go with exactly, I don't really need more bass just more clarity. I don't want to do a bunch of rewiring or break anything with my idrive either.

I've now found some more amplifiers that I could be used. Here are the types and what I know about them:
Blaupunkt THA-555 - RMS power (2 ohm) 4 x 65 W + 1 x 250 W price: 300$
Class D. Balanced input for speaker level input.

Kicker 08ZX700.5 - RMS power (2 ohm) 4 x 85 w + 1 x 420 w price: 300$
Class A/B + Class D for the sub channel. Balanced input for speaker level input

Audison LRx6.9 - RMS power (2 ohm) 4 x 120 w + 1 x 470W price: 700$
Class A/B. Don't think this have balanced input for speaker level input so I need to use a separate High to Low level adapter.

Alpine PDX-5 - RMS power (2 ohm) 4 x 75W + 1 x 300W price: 400$
Class D. Balanced input for speakerlevel input.

I'm thinking about the Alpine or Kicker. Kicker has more power for lower prize, but i assume that the Alpine has better quality. Class A/B that the kicker has should give better sound quality than Class D.

What are you saying? Should I just go for the Kicker? Just received the Earthquake SWS-8 sub.
