I'm in the 35+ group.

My 17 year old son likes it.
My 13 year old daughter likes it.
My ex-wife.... well who cares about her.
My girlfriend doesn't mind it at all.
First of all, you are in the 40+ age group, not 35+. Bwahahaha!! Secondly, GIRLFRIEND?

Sorry, back on topic...

I have driven Audi_Eatter's 545 with the RPi and is sounds absolutely INCREDIBLE. Deep, throaty V8 race car note at WOT. Burbles on deceleration. Very slight drone from 1500-2000 RPM. Mild mannered deep throaty note during everyday family driving and at idle.

I'm 35, married and have 3 kids...13, 5 and 6mo. I have a MagnaSlow 14816 on my 550 and it sounds close to the RPi exhaust but not quite. It is as loud if not louder than the RPi but doesn't sound tight as the RPi. The MagnaSlow drones like a MOFO from 1500-2000K. It sounds less like a race car than the RPi. It's hard to explain how much better the RPi sounds but the difference is huge. The 550 is my wifes daily driver and she absolutely HATED the exhaust when it was first installed on the car because of the very loud annoying droning. My 6 mo old son LOVES the exhaust and has a similar reaction to C's Bimmer's baby daughter, loves riding in the 550 much more than the Range Rover. My daughters could care less about the exhaust.

BTW, My name is #1 on the group buy list for the RPi 550 exhaust. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Do yourself a favor and get the RPi.

I'm mid 40's, with a wife & kids (2 girls yet), I have a B&B exhaust, not an RPI, and I can vouch for my wife NOT caring for the loudest part of the exhaust rumbling! My kids, LOVE IT!!

I'm scared that the RPI exhaust will have too much of that kid tuner car sound to it on my 550i. Any guys out there over 35 that have an aftermarket exhaust that you now think is a bit to "20's tuner boy" now? I mean nothing wrong with that, just not for me nowadays. I drive into a underground office parking garage, and sometime have clients / coworkers / bosses in my car to travel distances and don't want the impression to be that of an immature kid in an oversized, overpowered, status symbol car that sounds like a rice burner tuner dude.

Again, if that's your thing, go for it. I'm just looking for some opinions from those of you who read this and say 'yeah, that's what i thought' or 'yeah, that's exactly what it sounded like when i did upgrade my exhaust'.

Please don't take this as a negative on exhaust upgrades or those that are into the tuner thing.

Thanks.
OK, here's my $0.02.

I'm 35+, married, no kids (yet)...and for what it's worth we have plenty of other people's kids regularly running around and plenty of godchildren. I roll clients, colleagues, suppliers, and inlaws around in my car semi-regularly (at least once/week).

Now, a part of me completely understands the reasoning behind your questions and, at the same time, a larger part of me wants to scream "For the love of the car gods STRAP ON A FRICKIN' SACK, MAN!!!" I don't have aftermarket exhaust, YET, but I have every intention of installing RPI by year end.

Ultimately, at the end of the day, the only person that needs to be OK with what you do is you. IMHO, if you want the exhaust get it and do so without placing too much stock in your own perception of the "kid tuner" stereotype.

Cheers.
