HOLY F_CK_N SHITE!!!!!!

I had it installed at D2technik in Alhambra by Will. This thing sounds absolutely amazing.

Right out of the box you can hear the beautiful sound at 3000rpms and up. It sounds like a roaring wide open throttle growl. Not ricey at all. Just sick euro luxury growl.

And performance is improved. I mean this. I didn't have it dynoed before, but with my remap I know exactly how fast my car was before and now it's even faster. Noticeable improvement in torque at the same time as the sound kicks in.

Guys in all honesty, I give a major thumbs up to this mod. Thanks to VT and ECF for their recommendations.

They also told me Supersprint's dual exhaust will fit in the M-Tech Diffuser/bumper without any custom cutting. The guys at D2technik said they were really surprised at the sound of the stock exhaust on the 08 550 and couldn't honestly tell me whether the Supersprint Dual exhaust would be a worthwhile mod over the stock exhaust. Not too much of a difference unless I went to a quad.

Fight On!

So Cal
Is this what you got, Im seriously thinking of doing this...

Has anyone heard of this or had problems with this filter on the AFE CAI?

http://www.bavauto.com/Assets/inst_pages/INS368.pdf

My AFE CAI is sitting in the box and I'm going to install it soon. However, I went with the Blue Filter which has oil. I'm concerned, based on the link above, that the MAF sensor will be an issue and that I should have gone with the dry filter.

Has anyone experienced this?

Oh, and redwhiteandblue...I mean sleepyca31, nice to have you back. You behaving?

I'm planning on getting the AFE setup also. I'm a bit weary though as I'm also planning on getting a Vorsteiner hood and I've heard the vents screw up the airflow under the hood?

Also is the best place to buy the AFE from Autoanything? Thanks

Go with the oil-less filter. Easy to clean by simply running it under water and no need to oil . Plus there is a high chance of screwing up your MAF with an oil based filter. I have the oil free one and do enjoy it.

I just called Autoanything right now because I didn't see the AFE CAI for the 550i listed on their website. The rep said they don't sell the CAI for the 550i?

Hello. This concerns me. I called my installer today and they said they have never had any problems with air filter oil being deposited on the MAF. They have installed numerous AFE's on 550 and M3's. He told me not to worry.

Is there a difference in performance with a dry filter versus an oil filter? And if you don't get a sensor fault code error, do you truly need to worry about it? So far after a week of driving, no issues.

How difficult is it to remove the MAF and clean yourself? I'm not handy at all. I don't want to f_ck anything up.

Thanks fellas.

So Cal

You don't need to touch the MAF sensor. Just spray it with the CRC MAF sensor cleaner available at automotive stores.
Open the filter box, take out the filter and aim spray towards sensor. Or simply follow instructions on the can.
