You may well be right here but I thought (based on the instructions) that the newer ACM versions just superceeded previous versions and they were not related to the age of the car.
I do not have all the info here but I think you are right, in that the old part numbers are superceeded with the new ones. The main issue I have is that my car is an 04 prod date 01/04 and the CON iDrive wheel is electromagnetic engagement and the ACM unit interferes with the function of the CON wheel. In other cars, such as an 08 M5 with a click type wheel the same exact combo of ACM and CAN bus ( both latest version level 2 ) works fine. At this point I believe that there must be some required coding for the CON or CAS or CCC in order to get this to work right but I have no info available on the subject. Not all cars have the electromagnetic iDrive CON wheel, I want to know if anyone has the ACM on a car with the electromagnetic CON wheel? If so what ACM and CAN bus part numbers were used?

I now have the same issue as you. Have you managed to solve this issue?
The only time I can get the Idrive controller to work when I connect/disconnect branch A9 from controller, whilst the battery is connected.
My car is 2006 (June version) - with Nav Pro.

Yes I did fix the issue. If you look at page 18 of these old instructions it is telling you to disconnect the grey cable from A1 pin 1 for cars without Japanese language. That is only correct for cars with Champ. If you look at the newest version of the install instructions on page 34 it shows that you only disconnect A1 pin 1 for cars without Japanese language but also must have Champ.
From what I have learned by looking at these instructions I can summarize that cable loop A11, A1 pin 1, and A15 pin 12 pin 25 are all one ground wire and can be connected at the other end to the ACM or CAN in different combinations to work with the different screen sizes ( M ask or CCC/ Champ ), different controller type ( high engagement or basic controller ), and different radio types ( CCC or Champ ).
