I was in the same situation 6 months ago and the driving experience between the RL and 5 series was a no brainer. The RL felt "tin-canny" compared the 5. I'm also not sure if the modifications available for the RL are as extensive as they are for the E60...... That wasn't a part of my original decision to go with a BMW, but I'm cofident I made the right decision. Good Luck!

RL has the A-spec stuff but nothing like e60 mods out there.
plus i think the RL is mostly purchased my middle-aged people who are not into mods.
It's an overall great car but lacks presence in the realm of big thing.

The e60 is no doubt an awesome car. Everyone who has driven my 525i has loved it. And that too from my brother-in-law who has 540i sport with 6speed.

BMWs are for pure enthu.

I would consider Audi as well. BMW, AUDI, INFINITI. In that order.

BMW or Audi, but I would really lean more on the BMW side

Hi all,

I am out for my first used / Pre-Owned luxury car, but still haven't set my mind on which one to go with. I have a budget of up to $30K, and my actual list includes BMW 5 series, Acura RL and Infinity M35x. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you guys all so much for all of your inputs. There are a couple of things I feel I left out, one be it that I will be driving the car 100 miles every single day to commute from NY (place of living ) to NJ (place of work). Also I have owned stick shift cars before, and last what year and model you guys recommend for the mentioned amount?

Well as you could probably figure on a 5 series website, the suggestions are mainly for the BMW! All in all, the 5 is the better driver's car and for a long commute, you would really get to enjoy the sporting nature of the car on a daily basis. So enjoy the forums, and really enjoy the car buying process!!
