Hi all,

I am out for my first used / Pre-Owned luxury car, but still haven't set my mind on which one to go with. I have a budget of up to $30K, and my actual list includes BMW 5 series, Acura RL and Infinity M35x. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I would add the Audi A6 3.2 to the evaluation list.

i would get either the 5 series or the RL 3.5.
I love the RL 3.5, it has a lot of technology packed in the car.
SH, navi, & all the goodies as standard. The only thing it sucks about the RL is that there isn't a presence with the car. It's like an accord. Will do everything right, but won't get much credit for it. I actually wanted the RL but wife doesn't like the car much.

Then i drove the 5 and fell in love.

I would either get a certified 5 series, Audi or an E550. All 3 have unique personalities. Japanease cars are good but they are too wanna-be/look-at-me stylings. There is no understated beauty in them. Acura or Lexus or Infinity, all try to catch up to the Germans. So why not buy the original. In other words there is nothing "special" about a lexus, acura or infinity. No pedigree. No heritage.

(I hope my friends here dont get offended. Its just an opinion. Everyone has one!)

I spent a couple days driving the Inifinti M35 and really enjoyed it. It was fun, handled well and had a nice interior. I think out of the acura vs. lexus vs. Infiniti group, the Infiniti seems the most sporty. I have been in several lexuses (or is the plural lexi?) and I found them to be like being in a coffin: dead silent w/no feedback from the road. They have the luxury, but not much "feel."

All that being said, I still chose a CPO 545 as my car. The Infiniti was a close second, however.

i am glad i did not drive the 545i cuz i am sure as highly everyone speaks about the car. I would have gotten that instead.

BMW just has characteristic that is enjoyable that i don't feel in the lexus or infiniti. But for some reason i am biased toward honda/acura product.
I think they are the closest to german car feeling IMHO. but their designs are bland.

I was in the same arena about a year ago. Test drove all but the Audi and the M35 was the closest. Try taking a turn with an uneven surface and push each cars limit. The BMW is far superior when pressed. The Lexus felt like a Lincoln Town Car when pushed hard. The M35 lost character when pushed hard in a turn with an uneven surface. Also the M35 interior had a very Japanese car feel like a Maxima. The Acura was too small for me to fit comfortably as I am 6'6" and I never got a chance to drive it much since it was so uncomfortable.
