I bought the M5 gril from Rieger. It comes with the original BMW M5 gril, but then has a little black 'housing' around it that covers the cut edge - since it is difficult (not impossible) to get the cut edge looking smooth. Also with riegers solution, u dont need to respray the fenders after they are cut. So for me its a good trade-off.

And it costs only 179euros for the part.

agreed Rieger`s side gills cost less than M5 fenders, labor and paint.

Your cars looks great.
If you want more M mods, go for the mirrors, door sills, and/or steering wheel.

While the M5 side gills look great, (I love them, too) it's going too far into the land of make-believe to completely dress your car to look just like an M5. Don't pretend you have an M5. Leave the M5 gills to the M5.

And think of it this way: the only people who will care that your 530 looks more like an M5 will know it's NOT an M5, and they'll think you're posing. I'd laugh if I saw it.

its true that one shouldnt pretend that he has an M5, but all the same i think the grills look nice. They make the car quite agressive.

i'd say go for it.

I'VE SEEN DEBATES ON THIS SUBJECT BEFORE ON THIS FORUM AND HAVE REFRAINED FROM POSTING UNTIL NOW. IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY, GO FOR IT!!! I'LL POST SOME PICS OF MY WIFES LATER TODAY. TONY KINDLY HOOKED ME UP WITH THE FRONT BUMPER AND IT LOOKS CLOWNIN. WHEN I BOUGHT MY WIFE HER 545i THE M5 WASNT EVEN OUT YET. I CAN AFFORD THE M5 BUT WHY WOULD I SELL THE CAR THAT FAST? I'LL GET MY USE OUT OF IT AND THEN PART WITH IT. TIL THEN JUST WANTED TO GIVE IT A LOOK THAT YOU DONT SEE ON THE STREET ALL THAT OFTEN. MY BADGES ARE STILL ON AND I TOOK THE SIDE M5 EMBLEM OFF THE GRILLS. NOT TRYING TO FAKE THE FUNK HERE. IT IS WHAT IT IS AND IMO IT LOOKS TIGHT!!! JUST MY .02

I wouldn't do it either. Your car looks great. That's going too far IMHO.

Do you buy Trojan Magum XLs to con your ladies into thinking you have something more? Sorry just my crass opinion on making something look other than it was intended to be especially more expensive. Klassy

I'm struggling to understand why everyone seems so anti-side grills. How is adding a small grill to the wing of the car any less trying to imitate the M5 than adding for example, the wheels or any other part that was specific to the M version. In fact aren't all versions with the M Aerodynamic kit trying to imitate something, or is ok when BMW does it. I can't have the side grills 'cos mine is a company car, and a diesel, but I say if you like the look then go for it.
