2006 M5 Side grills? I need the e60 forums help and advice of . . .

My Ride: 2004 e60 M5 Replica

. . . Has any BMW owner here at the e60 forum, with a non M5 e60 with a M aerodynamic kit ever had professionally installed at a local body shop 2006 M Side Grills on you Bimmer? If so, how did it cost? BMW is telling me I cannot get the two holes professionally cut in my front fenders and rolled like the M5 are, and make it look BMW perfect. But before I took their salesmen word for it, I thought I would ask the real e60 experts at the e60 forum first.

COST of New M5 E60 fenders:
The BMW OEM Cost for two new e60 M5 fenders are approx: $285.00 x 2 Each + 66.40 x 2 each for the M5 grill, then take it to a local body shop for removal of old fenders, and painting and installation of the two M5 fenders, I hate to go that route, but me M Kit is missing those two M5 side vents on my fenders to balance out the M5 appearance package, and I am sure before the conversion is completed I will have to have quad exhaust too.

You car looks great the way it is right now. You don't have to get the side grills. Take the money and buy the M5 mirrors. That would be a better mod, IMHO.
BTW, if you do still want to do the side grill it is possible for a body shop to cut out holes on your fenders.

One thing to remember is that the M Kit is not the M5 appearence package......it is the Motorsports division's interpretation of a sporty body kit for the E60. Although it is similar looking to the M5 it is not meant to be the same (with good reason).
I think you have a very tastefully modified E60 and your last addition of the 166 wheels made it perfect. If I were you I would not put on the M5 side fenders and/or gills. I think that pushes it a little too far and makes one look like an M5 wannabe. Even if you switch to quad exhausts you can just buy a replacement rear diffuser with two exhaust cutouts (which are now available). That would accomodate a quad exhaust and still keep your M Tech look without having to get the M5 rear bumper.
Don't get me wrong, I have some M5 parts on my car as well (trunk lid finisher, SMG knob), but I think that there are a couple of parts that to me seem like going a little too far, and the fenders/gills are number one on that list (almost as bad as putting on an M5 badge on the trunk).
I hope you don't mind me giving you my opinion, but you have a very classy and sporty looking car and I wouldn't dilute that by getting the fenders/gills if it were me. Also with the double hole diffuser being available I would get that instead of the M5 rear bumper if I were getting quad exhausts. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't put side grille on 530i, but I'd put it on 545 or 550 because it's worth it. I could be more fun to drive 545/550 than M5 due to high low-end torque. M5 is designed for track and "Real life is not a race track"
