Sorry guys, I'm a noob around here. I used to own an E46 with 19 inch Breytons. Presently I'm driving a Benz, but am planning to purchase an E60. I was looking at some Maido RT5 20X9 and 20X10. I wanted to drop the car, but I sometimes carry a full load, which worried me a little. Additionally, my shop out here didn't want to add dropped springs as they said it is a difficult procedure. They said most of the 5 Series that slap on 20s don't usually get a drop because they fill the fender well. What do you guys think? Do you guys have any E60s with 20s without a drop? Thanks for your patience.

I'm in the same quandry. I think it depends a bit on the brand of tire, and the particular wheel. Also, I think it's a moot point without the sport package. No where near low enough. It's just that the difference is so small that I hate to undertake the whole spring thing. Yes, it is a bit complicated on this car, just because there's a lot to take apart, and I hate running the risk of a scratched wheel or body part, and never mind the rattlle issue. And I'm sure not going to put any H&R's on my car and ruin that excellent balance it has. Let us know what you do....

Has nothing to do with brand of tire or type of rim...

Your going to have a gap regardless if you dont drop. Some like a little gap and some dont. Me personally I dont mind it on an E60. Now on a coupe thats a different story

Here's mine with 20s, sports pkg and not lowered. Not sure if it's clear in the pics but there's about a little over an inch gap. My car was rubbing occasionally, even with just 2 people but I just recently got the fenders rolled and it solved the problem. Haven't tried a fully loaded car yet though.

Thank!

Oh, I should add that I'm about to install some KW coilovers on mine and maybe lower it about half an inch and also stiffen up the ride a bit. I think the stock sports pkg shocks still feel a bit soft.

I dunno...should I do it???

Your car looks great.

I like stiff/compliant suspensions (have driven Porsches for >15 years), and my impression of the 545i w/ sport package is that you have the best of both worlds...very little body roll on twisties, yet very comfortable ride on the straights. What about the suspension do you find too soft?
