Thumbs up

I had a radar detector hardwired into my car yesterday but they told me they couldn't make it turn on with the car because all of the modules are fiber optic and they can't tap off a module without causing problems with the system. He even called BMW to ask them what he could do but they couldn't help. Does anyone know of a way to tap into a 12V ignition lead? Thanks in advance.

Just a guess, but I would put a voltage meter on the cigar lighter. If ignition hot only then try it.

Search here for V1 hardwired install - there are a bunch of posts about it.

What you want can be done pretty easily - your installer didn't know what he was doing.

If you are looking in to taping into the 12v wire it usually says 12v on the wire.
