Default Zimmerman Rotors - Good?

Hello All,

Looking for some feedback on Zimmerman rotors. I will be changing all 4 rotors and new pads/sensors all around. I'm sure some of you are running or have heard about Zimmerman Rotors. I have never used them before. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I will also be using Textar Pads. I was told Textar is an OEM Supplier. I know they will produce the same amouont of brake dust as stock, but I really like the feel of the stock pads. Would this combo work? Will it feel comparable to OEM.

Thanks in advance!

Zimmerman are ok. Very similar to the OEM. I have run them on my M3 and had no problems. I have no personal experience with Textar. A better option would be Centric slotted rotors with Axxis ceramic pads to save yourself some dust and have a better breaking without noise.

I will look into the Axxis Ceramic Pads, thank you! I really want to stick with the blanks, This is a daily driver, no need for X Drilled / Slotted rotors. I have also heard recently from other forum members who used X-Drilled and/or Slotted rotors they lost the feel of the OEM Setup. Braking required more effort and the initial bite was gone.

I would stay away from drilled rotors for the reasons mentioned as well as possible cracks. Also for a daily driver there is no benefit. Whatever route you go with the rotors you may want to make sure the rotor hubs are painted to avoid the usual hub rusting that is particular pronounced with the stock rotors.

I had a pair of zimmerman rotors on my old vw jetta mk4 and they were very good ! You can also have a look on the stoptech blank rotors and their posy quiet pads as well..they seems to have pretty good reviews too

Good luck with any of your choice!

I've been using Zimmerman rotors on all my cars for several years. I am satisfied with the quality. Never had a warped rotor.

I think I've read somewhere that Zimmerman is also an OEM for BMW rotors.

Default zimmerman

I too have also used Zimmerman on 2 cars with nice results. I would go with the coated rotors as they will not rust on the hub and along the edge keeping them new looking for much longer.

I have used the Zimmermann slottet \ drilled rotors on my 520d, cant say for sure about the plain ones though.

But I have not lost any braking feel or anything over the OEM roters, but I am also using OEM pads. Little bit squeeking on cold discs but other than that they stop great.

Wasnt that much of a price difference and I liked the look of the drilled ones.

I say go for it

The plain zimmermans are heavier than the oem. I went with the oem which have the nice alum hub that never rusts and makes them lighter than the zims. Look darn nice. Got em at esc tuning. Your 545 deserves better than plain zims or some Chinese stoptec or whatever.

Did a brake job on my audi and used zims. Seem fine in terms of performance though they are rusting to shit on the hub. Of course they weren't coated and now zims are available with coating. I'll probably get new coated rotors to fix this, like the geomet rotors.

Lots here go vender stuff and put on the drilled or slotted. I don't buy any of the drill and slotting benefits for a non tracked 5 series sedan. It's a looks thing and your adding a bit of unsprung weight for it.

My porsche has drilled rotors and I think they are contributing to line scores on the rotors with only 15k of miles. Ticks me off. I might go with an oem application when the times comes. Maybe slots if only the weight is equivalent to oem and if China isn't stamped on the hub.

Textar sounds good and is also oem pad on the m5. Have the cool carbons and these feel nice. Only a little less dusty than the oems.
