I'm averaging 35mph with mixed/overall driving, but can get over 40mph when cruising on the motorway.

Seriously, I whack mine in 6th and can cruise between 70 and 85mph and get 45mpg no problems 
It's round town where the steptronic suffers in mpg terms...
