Yes these are some very safe cars. i had a bad expirience with my first e60. i was driving down a main road here in florida at about 45 mph and a tree fell as i was driving on my car. luckily i walked out without a scratch.
man sorry to hear about it, but good to hear you left just fine.

No it didn't, believe it or not the main intial contact of the crash was more to the side.

Thank goodness she was OK. Wow. I do have one concern however - what the heck happened to the steering wheel airbag? Did it deploy?

how could it happen? I feel bad for the house owner and our insurance rate is going higher and higher because of these drivers.
fortunately the only damage to the house was the lawn, a planter, a tree. It missed the house by about a foot.

the airbags are likely connected to an intelligent controller that decides the angle of impact etc and fires the airbags it expects to be needed. A previous car i had was listed in documentation as not firing airbags if the frontal impact angle was greater than 45 deg.

Perhaps it sensed a glancing, not a full frontal impact, and decided the wheel airbag wasnt required.

Would be a lot easier to fire everything, but perhaps these things are computer controlled to save on replacing 8 or so airbags in one go!
