Do you like apples?

Straight RWD in a snowstorm.. how about them apples..

I like those apples very much, same situation here. It's not the car it's the driver and the tires.

I did get stuck for a little while but I was forced into a snow bank by a retard.

Drove down I-280 it was like a scene from a disaster movie, pretty cool to drive around a closed highway with no other drivers, just their cars. The thoughts that came to mind...

Agreed to a degree... the driver and tires have much to do with it - but I live 800ft up and let me tell you, I dont care how good a driver you are, my 545 would not even come close to getting up that hill and I have driven everything else up... Mine will be sitting in my garage staying warm... Thankfully thats what the Big Bad Jeep is for!!

Another Xi with DWS here - all good, no issues. Some idiot got stuck in a 745 with summer 21's on it on Saturday - I ran out of my car and just started yelling at him to park his ef'ing car and wait till the snow stops. He did, and I was able to pass. I did get stuck in my unplowed driveway - there was about a foot and half of snow there at the time, it was still coming down pretty hard. I had to dig out my parking and then pulled the car into the space. No issues after - dug out the driveway and they finally plowed the street. I can definitely say that both - tires and AWD help. But I have to agree with PP that tires do make the biggest difference. If you have an Xi with summer tires - weather like this will get you stranded.

Be safe, y'all!

That's where the driver realizes there are limits & doesn't do anything crazy. I live at the top of a very steep hill & so I didn't think twice about calling out from work.

Yesterday was the first time I came across huge snow blizzard. I gotta say I'm very impressed with the studless winter tires (Michellin X-Ice). I have a 2006 525i and did not have any problem whatsoever driving with a lot of snow on the ground last night and ice this morning. Big difference with the summer tires. I'm not sure about northeastern part of the country but at least here in Utah, I don't think you need X-drive in the snow if you got winter set up.

Amen, sir.

All this snow.. all these threads about snow.. all my repetitive posts about handling the conditions...

I KNEW being Canadian would come in handy someday!!
