Managed to get the video to work - disconnected the power from the the interface locked the car for 30mins and then plugged it back in...
Xcarlink support has been quite impressive - with prompt replies to all my emails..
next issue: lol
i am not getting sound from the AUX - from the FM it works..
So
if i connect the audio out from the DVD to the AUX port - select Aux from the screen and then switch to the interface i dont get any sound.
if i connect the audio out from the DVD to the audio jacks for the AV input - select radio station 87.9 from the screen and then switch to the interface i get any sound.
Could it be my Aux port is not working? how can i check this over?

why do you have to switch the 87.9 to listen to aux? are you using a fm transmitter?
i would install an AUX cable if you dont already have one. when i had the xcarlink i had it connected to the aux cable, then from the xcarlink i had to plug in a LR audio cable to 3.5 jack male on the aux input on the xcarlink.

i have a aux connection but i think its not working..so will test this with a phone i guess..
also checking on google, having a AUX port behind the center console does not mean it will be working..how odd!
