I bought my car when it had 6 miles on it. I had a lot of fun when it was still under warranty. Now that it is out of warranty, it is the most boring car I have ever owned. Why? Because I am so afraid it will break (based on a few disappointed experiences). Sometimes, a used/old BMW is not worth fixing because the costs usually exceed the benefit(s).

Buy the extended warranty for peace of mind and really have fun with what the car is designed to do.

What were your transmission symptons when it went out? I just suffered transmission malfunction and pulled code and got the code that said pressure solenoid valve 2.

My car wont go out of limp mode so I have to replace these solenoids and do a flush. Hopefully solves my issue

Anything more than 1/2 throttle and my car would hit limp mode and lock me out of 3-6 gears leaving me with only 1-2 gear. It would says trans malfunction in my HUD. A trans reset would bring the car back but it was very dangerous on the freeway in the mountains with no shoulder.

Back in the topic, keep in mind the warranty from CPO does not cover your iDrive.

Not I would get it if I where you to expensive what could go wrong with the car that cost $ 2,200 except for the engine which I truly believe wouldn't go bad on you . Do what the others guy say about saying it in a account it sound perfect and I bet you at the end of the 1 year you will have more money then what you deposit 👍

Update on this. After taking delivery of my 535xi Wagon on Tuesday, I noticed a whirring noise while driving, much like alternator wine through a stereo system. The noise was speed dependent and would change pitch when I left off the accelerator. From the symptoms I noticed, it seems like the front differential was the issue.

Yesterday I took it into the dealership for inspection and as it turn out, my hypothesis was correct. The transfer case was at fault. I did not receive a detailed explanation on what exactly but the end result is: I will be receiving a brand new transfer case.

Unfortunately the part is Nationally back ordered and will not arrive from Germany for another month or so.

But I get a new $2,500 differential. So far so good with the warranty.
