Besides what you said don't even make sense. If a person is anal about their car's cleanliness, it doesn't matter what color it is. If it's dirty it's dirty. Visibility of dirtiness is hardly the issue here for people that want their car looking spotless.
I will mildly disagree with you here

Only I ever notice if my car is clean or dirty

I have tisilver and black wheels, so it really never, I mean never, looks dirty

wheels get a dull look to them, but again, only I can tell

but I understand your point, someone who is obsessive will be irked regardless of how you hide it

I feel your pain Howi. I hate the winter. As I get older, I hate it more. And yes the winter wreaks havoc on my Carbon Black exterior.

People buy black cars because they absolutely look stunning when taken care of. Can't hate on someone for choosing black.

just read that in the my M3 owner's manual as well....

"begin driving at moderate speeds" is what it says after telling you not to let the engine warm up stationary......

***statement is also in the e60 manuals

thats interesting, I've always made it routine to warm up my car 3-5 mins before leaving. Apparently the idea is to warm up the transmission and engine together. Can't just warm it up and floor the car lol.. Pretty much just start it cold and drive conservatively. This pretty much goes for any car. I'm still iffy about the idea on a freezing cold below 15 degrees day.. but it makes sense
