My black mamba is going to be driven in the Winter snow this year. I purchased Continental DWS A/S tires and am prepared. Unfortunately, the worst part of it all is the long wait time for warm-up before driving (I wait like 5 minutes to be safe) to make sure the car / oil is properly heated before higher revving. I'm also extremely sad that my car is black, JET BLACK, and will be caked in salt and road grime before long. Coming from someone like myself who is literally obsessive with keeping my car spotless, its going to be a nightmare to witness.

Better choice of car color next time?

Sure to get flamed on this one, never understood why people anal about their cars appearance would purchase a black car.

No flames here. I also have a 530 - black on black. Wouldn't have been my choice if I purchased new (I had an E39 Alpine White previously), but opportunity knocked when I needed it and I bought. She DOES look awesome when she's clean though.

To Howitzer, mine's an xi

Keep it clean = no problem.

Besides what you said don't even make sense. If a person is anal about their car's cleanliness, it doesn't matter what color it is. If it's dirty it's dirty. Visibility of dirtiness is hardly the issue here for people that want their car looking spotless.

Even though I have the all weather rubber mats the salt and grime that gets on the carpets bothers me more.

Anyone put on there winter tires yet? It's still pretty warm in MA. Currently 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
I'm kinda anxious to put on the Blizzaks already!!

The weekend after Thanksgiving is the tire changeover ritual at my house in Connecticut. We've had snow already in some parts of the state.

ooh i know how you feel, i drove my carbon black m3 last year in winter, front end got just beat, lol.. this year im driving my titanium grey and i noticed rock chips are not as visible on this color. Also i would recommend to warm about for about 30sec and start driving, i remember reading BMW recommends to not let car sit and warm up, instead start driving to let everything warm up together.

My snows went on Nov 1st.

I needed to put them on to pass the annual NYS inspection.

My summer rears were toast.

Glad to have it done. Nothing worse than driving around in 32* weather with a RWD car with high performance summer tires and the littlest amount of snow. I can drive in snow, but these summer tires freeze up super-quick.
