Am dreading putting on my 18's for the winter. They just ruin the whole driving experience, esp. since no one has been able to balance them right after 3 tries. Just love feeling the steering wheel shimmy!

screw this, im just changing the tires. I hate the winter and the snow, so Howitzer I feel your pain. Do you keep your car garaged? I rmemeber when I was young and had my first car with wheels, I would put it in the garage and take a bucket of warm water and rinse the salt off them. My mother could never understand

The black is going to be rough though, just make sure your all clean, clayed, then put some good wax on her for the winter to help protect the paint. Thats about all you can do

I was also thinking about getting another set of DWS for my M for the winter, I really liked how they worked in the 550 with REAR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY lololol.. SCREW THE XI'SSSSSSSSSSS

...Just make sure you have an emergency snow shovel and tow chain in your trunk.

Its crazy but I love winter. My Black Sapphire never looks clean but that's the price we all pay for living where the snow flys. Put snows on last week but no sign of the white stuff yet. My car has never been to a car wash so I use a power washer in the winter to get the big chunks off. Owned a silver MB years ago that never looked dirty (or clean). Silver always looks the same even after a waxing or a drive in the snow.
Have never warmed up any car--just hop in and drive away slowly for the first few minutes.

If I remember correctly, you were also driving your 550 with a Sprint Booster No idea how you managed that. I tried, but my DSC warning light was basically illuminated the whole time! I have to admit I gave up after a few days and took it out. So there was obviously only one thing for it this winter... I've ordered a Sprint Booster V2 from John

Funny, I solved all my winter dilemmas by moving to SoCal, not much for variety here in weather. I can at least kep my car clean for 2 weeks, no problem

My last two cars were silver and my 550 is Silver-gray A08. I Hardly ever see dirt and it can rain, etc and I'm happy with the way she looks. Not sure I'll ever get another color, but I do love Black. Black looks the best when clean. Worse color for me is Red. I even refuse red rentals when I travel for work.

Ironic how you guys are changing to smaller wheels and snow tires...

... while over here in socal I'm about to install my bigger, new wheels. Sunny and 70 degrees today.

On a serious note, I feel your pain guys, which is why I made sure not to get black when I purchased my E60.
