I changed mine last year thru the insurance.
I paid $100.00 deductible, which is part of the comprehensive coverage. My collision deductible is $500.00
Good luck

Glass is glass. I have had both on my E90. Both chipped equally easily. Functionally there is no difference. However the materials used in the OEM glass, the banding and blacked out areas IMHO are of better quality.

I just spoke with my windshield guy down here in san diego , before he said it was a dealer item only but that was a few years ago.
He is now able to get premium glass with the same glass thickness , same shadow / blacked out area/s , and the rain sensor identical to oem. The glass is premium and not made in china , which is good to know.
the only thing the glass does not have is the BMW logo.
I've been doing business with him for over 6 years and being my personal car he can sell it to me with installation for 290.00.
Another business called me this morning and told me the windshield is going to run me 600.00 installed
I received an email from fellow board member NeRwEEzy , stating that he can get oem glass from the dealer with installation . This guy is really helpful and went out of his way to contact me and offer his services , for the guys in LA you need to keep this guy on your friends list or in your rolodex.
=D

Same car just done 2 weeks ago. Dealer quote was almost $1,500. Original quote by aftermarket was $500 but then, because of rain sensor change late in the model year, it ended up costing $650. Maybe the west coast is less expensive or I got ripped off.
