Window Rattle Question?
#1
I took my 2006 530i to the dealer for an oil change and had them check my driver side window which is rattling. They told me I needed a new seal around the window and that it would cost around $300 installed. I can't stand the rattle, so I want it fixed, however, I vaguely remember seeing someone else post this same problem on this board and they had a simple solution. I think it was some sort of tape to put on the inside of the door seals. I tried a search, but could not find the answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

under warranty they apply some teflon tape where the door meets with the chassis. from my understanding, it's pretty expensive tape or at least that's what the shop foreman told me when he noticed my car had it. you can also make sure the rubber hasn't dried out too. i haven't done that yet, but i think people have used either silicone lubricant or some other stuff, but i'm not 100% sure. might do a "squeak" or "rattle" search as it's probably the most discussed squeak here with the parcel shelf a close second. good luck fellas....
