In the last two days ALL my windows have started making a rattling noise when driving over bumps. If I lower the windows by a fraction of an inch the rattle goes - its almost as if they are all being driven upwards into the door frame too hard and putting stress on the door frame.

I cannt understand why all windows have started at once?

Any ideas?

the symptoms u describe sound like the much debated door frame issue, it does sound like the windows causing the issue and lowering them does elminate the noise, but in most cases its actually the doors.

search on the forum for the words:

silicone carbaflo

those keywords should return the relevant posts.

Very interesting! I had my car detailed last weekend and all of a sudden I have this creaking problem in the doors, too. Like you, if I crack the windows, the problem gets a lot better.

I have had the car for 9 months and 9000 miles without this problem until now. I did hae the rear seat noise problem, which I solved myself since the dealer couldn't do it.
