The i-drive will be sh*t and it will keep telling you the car is broken when it's not.
However the car will be great and have no actual faults.

Don't buy a BMW E60 series.
You will never be happy. The first time you see a "High Battery Drain" warning or one of the front windows malfunctions and you see an ?Anti Trap Warning?, or you borrow your extra set of keys and all the preset are gone, or you can?t find the oil dip stick if you buy a 530i, or you find the ?idrive? a bit of a pain, you will be unhappy and regret the day you bought your E60.
Then we will be hearing you whine about your purchase on this forum.
In the meantime the rest us will enjoy getting in our E60s everyday and driving one of the most incredibly great automobiles on the road, albeit a few idiosyncrasies.
I suggest you look at the EClass, Infinity MSeries, Audi A6, etc.
