My Ride: On Order, due in May - 2007MY 530D SE, Silver Grey, Black Dakota, Auto, Brushed aluminium shadowline, sports seats / wheel, hi fi speakers, mats, space saver wheel and a few more bits
I am about to confirm my 530D SE - MY07 order and am a bit concerned seeing so many reliability / quality issues. I'm moving up from an A4and am not used to any issues. Have all there problems been ironed out now the E60 is a few years into production. My dealer aint too close either.

My Ride: Booked: E70n X5 40d M. Carbonblack, oyster, comfortseats, Nav Pro, Active Drive, Panoramic, Hifi PRO DSP, HUD, Alutrim, Satin ext, gloss rails, towconnector, elctric lid, alarm and more.
FS: E61 535D -06, Activesteering, Comfort seats, Hifi, M-steeringwheel, PDC, Rails, Tinted windows, Folding mirrors, Towconnector, Alu trims, Panoramic roof, ISO FIX, SonyEricsson BT-HF, 124 wheels, Alarm, Electric lid, Aburn interior, Xenons, Silvergrey and the crappy cupholders!!!
If you get a MY07 you will get some new things like RDC by pressure. So even the software and HW for the MY06 was quite OK you can never be shure when it's changed again. But a good rule I have learned is more options= more problems.
As it looks now the d models seems to be made in a high pace right now. My 535d will be more than 6 weeks early!

I had a 1997 E39 which was problematic and was the first year for the then new body style. I subsequently had a 2002 E39 which only saw the dealer for two oil changes in three years.

2007 should be fine. I have a 2004 and have had a number of problems. I attribute this to the new body style. 2007 will be the fourth year and should be fine.

Forgive me, but that doesn't sound right, and further, I think you'll enjoy your BMW.
Good luck,

Did I read you right that you are unaccustomed to problems with an Audi?

I think that problems will come and go on the MY07's just like on any car. You will see a disproportionate number of problems being discussed on forums such as this one. Just decide what car you want and hope for the best, unless, perhaps, it is known to be extremely problem prone. 5ers are not extremely problem prone IMO. And, today, given quality controls, having big problems on "good" cars tends to be more a matter of bad luck than systematic problems with the cars, themselves, IMO.
