The Honda my wife drives has only 5 forward gears and the R is where the 6th is in my reverse. Infact a lot of Japanese cars are that way. You don't have to do anything different to get the car into R in those cars. Hence my constant fear on the motorway that I may forget I'm not driving my car and put the car into R by mistake.

Bruce,

Did you really say that when you're driving the Honda, you might forget, and think you're driving the E60??

Hmmmm. . . .

Do you ever go for 7th gear in the 5er, where 5th would be in the Honda?? OK, so that's taking it too far . .

The Honda that my wife drive probably doesn't remember what a dealer looks like for the 6 years that we've had it. Whereas my BMW who sits on the driveway most of the week is best friends with the dealers. Need I say more.

I'm never confused but was just curious to know what would happen if ever I did.

I tried it for a laugh once on a A Road, and it didnt open, it onl opens on standstill!

Good for sure and safety!!
