hi all first time on here i have just bought a 55 plate 520d m sport and i love it to bits but its now devolped a weird steering noise from steering wheel area when turning lock to lock it makes a kind of a strange sqeeuking noise but only when its been driven for a while any ideas chaps

Mine makes a squeeky moaning sound sometimes, similar to power steering pump sounds on other cars, but strangly coming from directly behind the wheel like the plastic is catching the surround behind ?

hi mate thanks for reply i think it may be clockspring creek or something in that area my bm is going into bmw bodyshop next week for some repaier to n/s/f wing after some stupid young girl going down the side of it trying to park i might ask one of the lads in the workshop what this noise is i am an rac patrol by trade but i have never had a call out on a 5 series for this noise so thought asking on here might help if i find out ill let you know

Have the same noise from my steeringwheel also.
Maybe some grease put in correctly would help?
Anyone know some useful hints to this problem?

It may be the column bushes. I and others have had the same problem. Lots of turns at low speeds gives a rubbing or groaning noise from the column. I ended up with a new one under warranty.
