Mine is built - due to be picked up from dealer on the 22nd March - dealer suggests this is likely to come forward

Ooo la la!

I thought mine was the first!

Actually - I suspect they will all come on the same boat.

Damn - how long will it take to get the cherishes plate transfered?

Dunno how accurate this is...
The average transfer time is approximately 3-5 weeks. We ensure that every transfer is completed as quickly as possible. However, we cannot commence the transfer until we receive ALL the required documents. We take great care of your documents but cannot accept any responsibility for their safety once forwarded to the Department of Transport, although, it is extremely rare for documents to be lost.

My 2008 550i has a build date of March 4, 2007. According to the toll free number it is at the dock waiting to be put on a ship, but no shipping info is available. In a few days we should be able to see if any of us are acutally ship mates.

does anyone know how BMW ships to the west coast, is it to the east coast and then cross country by rail or truck or do they ship to a west coast port?

I'm in assembly today so I doubt we will be on the same ship. How long did it take you to arrive at the port after you started assembly (I'm just trying to get an idea of how long before I'm in your shoes!)

It went very fast Entry to Body shiop was on 2/28, entry to asembly on 3/2 and completed on 3/4.

We may very well be on the same boat - not sure how often they sail, but I am guessing its about once a week or so.

CWG - My car's been at the port since March 3rd. Did you get any info on when a ship would be sailing for the West Coast?

The built date(START) is different from build date(COMPLETION): 7-10 days start to complete, mine Feb.27th to Mar.9th.
Then it stays at dock 1-3 days to be shipped depending on wekday/weekend/holiday.

All of you lusting after the first of the "facelifts": please remember the first of the 545i's. Wait and patience will be your reward. All those stupid quirks will magically disappear
