I did not realize that you already added it into your calculations, I thought you meant it was not an additional cost option on the 535i and is included as it is on the 550i. Just a simple misunderstanding.
Ah ok. cool... sorry if I was rude.

The people that have 550s say that the 550 is worth it and is more reliable than the 535. How does anyone know it is more reliable. Perhaps the TT engine will be just as reliable. I drove both cars and the 550 didn't seem that much quicker. If it didn't seem quicker, then does it really matter that it is a "tick" quicker on paper? After driving a 535 and 550 and not feeling much difference for a car that costs $12,000 more in Canada, I'm considering the M5.

PS The dealer around here can't sell their 550s -people are opting for the 535i (xi). Until BMW widens the performance gap between the two models, people are buying the 535 - notwithstanding how much better the 550 owners on the forums are saying their cars are.
I test drove both, and 3 months ago ended up getting my 2007 550i with only 10k miles for only $54K (paid by check ) fully loaded, 2 screen nav, sport w/18" wheels, upgraded 7 logic sound, park distance, control, pretty much everything.

Although I felt like I should have waited for the 2008 550i, the new M5 type body changes w/19 rims looks much more muscular. I negotiated the price down to where I thought I was getting a great deal. But getting back to driving experience, the 550i has a big difference in torque absolutely. Also with the 535 being turbo I guarantee you'll have issues after 70k miles or so, amongst the other elctrical issues you WILL have, can you tell you from experience being a long time 5 series owner.

This is my 2nd 5 series, had the 528i 1999 previously and put 150K miles on it (still sold for $10K cash mind you) and I usually keep my cars for the long haul and take care of them.

Boy am I glad when I bought, the choices were 525, 530, and 550! Choosing between 528, 535, and 550 is very difficult now...specially if you're interested in the performance aspects of what each offer.

I wonder why no one had mention that 550 is couple of inches longer (and wider, I think as well )

Just 300 lbs heavier, but it carries it well.

3 questions;

1. Why is it relevant how you paid for the car?
2. what is 2 screen nav?
3. how can you be SO certain the 535 owners will definitely have problems?

That's all I have to say about this overly and repeatedly discussed discussion.
