I need to shave one bimmer off as I'm traveling a lot now and keeping two cars does not make any sense. One has to go. Wife and I would like to keep the 5er but I'm worried about how it will hold up over the long run. This thing has electronics up the wazoo and hasn't been exactly trouble free. My car, knock on wood, has had no problems yet so that's one thing going for it.
I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the subject. Thanks

Keeping mine till the BBS's come off, but I am a little scared as my warrenty is about to run out but I have to trust some car line or another so why not BMW. And with no car notes if it gets to bad I can just purchase another.

I am going to keep my 530i as long as possible, thinking about more than 200k miles. It should hold up with regular maintance.

Whats your other Bimmer? the E46 wagon in the background? It's just as un-reliable as the E60... so if you were to pick between them... I would keep the E60. Looks MUCH MUCH better too... the E46 is dated. especially the touring.

10 Years? What fun would that be to not have something to look forward to every 30 or 36 months?

Taken as a whole, E46s are more reliable than E60s. Ask your SA. Looks wise, it's a matter of opinion. I love the E46 shape. Classic lines I think.
