One of the things that I find fearsome is owning a car that is as technologically advanced as ours once it is out of warrantee. I have no idea what a software update or a reprogramming must cost, never mind a clutch or blown motor. I'm sure it's a fortune. What about you guys?? Anyone out of warrantee?? And for those of you who aren't, what are you planning to do??

The truly brave. By 2010, all cars will be Toyotas and Lexis anyway.

When I feel it cost me more to repair than leasing a new car, it's time for me to replace.

Although I never lease car, always purchase.

My lease is up this October and I'm glad to see it go. I love the car but the never ending glitches is making me question future BMW's. My heart was set on a 550 or even an M5 but between annoying software issues and questionable customer service I'm almost at the end ... In fact I've decided not to replace my 545i this October and instead wait 3-6 months and see how people are doing with their 550's or M5's before I make my decision. As scary as it sounds I may even try an Audi (S6 or S8)!!!!

Hopefully I wont have to resort to this.

Sir, you are very misinformed.

All cars will be HYUNDAI'S!

I've signed up for the long term. Brought 5 years service & maint. I'll look at warranty extension too.

Brought this one myself, having just opted out of company cars.
So I have to keep for at least 5 years for the money side of things to work out.

After that, we have to see how well it soldiers on.
My wife is hoping 10 years

(Car still in shop.)

I'm hoping that mine spontaneously combusts at 49,000 miles which, if you think about it, wouldn't be all that bizarre or unlikely on a 2004 model.

I just hope to God that I'm not sitting inside of it when it happens.

After that, I'll probably be stupid enough to buy another one.

It's a keeper. I'm going to install VF Engineering's supercharger or RD Sport's R54 engine.

Honestly, though I don't know if I can wait that long. Might have the supercharger in by this Fall. Some will say "why? Get a M5." Well, I'm going for the stealth approach.
