Sir, you are very misinformed.

All cars will be HYUNDAI'S!

NO way! Give Geely's a chance!

It's a keeper. I'm going to install VF Engineering's supercharger or RD Sport's R54 engine.

Honestly, though I don't know if I can wait that long. Might have the supercharger in by this Fall. Some will say "why? Get a M5." Well, I'm going for the stealth approach.

Can I test drive?

Since I need my car to commute to work, my car needs to be available to run daily without hassle.
I have 4 years warranty, but intend to keep it for 7 or 8 years unless the cars becomes unreliable beforehand, warranty or not. But who knows, maybe the runner up can steel my heart earlier

The 2004 545 versus the 2004 530 is well worth the extra cost, for 100 horsepower, in my opinion.

It'd be great, however, if mine was ever in the driveway versus being in the shop. That way I could cease driving a 2006 3.0 X5, which travels 0-60 in what seems like 10 minutes.

One of the things that I find fearsome is owning a car that is as technologically advanced as ours once it is out of warrantee. I have no idea what a software update or a reprogramming must cost, never mind a clutch or blown motor. I'm sure it's a fortune. What about you guys?? Anyone out of warrantee?? And for those of you who aren't, what are you planning to do??
I will buy extended warranty before the original warranty expired. Definitely keep it until it retires. Then donate it ...

With respect to the original poster - I think this thread would be really useful as a poll - so I'm going to post one.

My lease is up this October and I'm glad to see it go. I love the car but the never ending glitches is making me question future BMW's. My heart was set on a 550 or even an M5 but between annoying software issues and questionable customer service I'm almost at the end ... In fact I've decided not to replace my 545i this October and instead wait 3-6 months and see how people are doing with their 550's or M5's before I make my decision. As scary as it sounds I may even try an Audi (S6 or S8)!!!!

Hopefully I wont have to resort to this.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on your statements? I just purch a 2004 545i after selling my M3 and statements like these make me nervous - not that I can really change anything right now. I also asked "Evenflow545" to elaborate on his equal troubling statements to compare notes.

It might change the way some of us view extended warranty options.

Thanks for any info!

(Car still in shop.)

I'm hoping that mine spontaneously combusts at 49,000 miles which, if you think about it, wouldn't be all that bizarre or unlikely on a 2004 model.

I just hope to God that I'm not sitting inside of it when it happens.

After that, I'll probably be stupid enough to buy another one.

Will definitely keep it since warranty will be up in 3 months time and my car is only 9 months old.
