My Ride: 2005 530i
Non-Sport pkg, Premium package, Titanium Silver, Black Leather, 20inch RPM R-505 Wheels, 20-35% Tint Debadged
Have hit the Limiter once, gps said 153. There's a 20 mile straight stretch 4 lane very flat with huge median between LV and Pahrump.
Hit 174mph with 2000 Kawasaki ZX900 (151hp)
Hit 122mph with 2004 F450 w/ Superchips and higher speed tires. (limiter was 83 mph before chip)
All in the same spot.
I like doing it there because I got pulled over on that stretch once by a dork who pulled a taser on me for just doing 90 in a 75.
Result - Lawyer +$100.00 ---- Fine $0.00
The wife and I have not had any tickets in the past six years. She puts 2200 miles per month on the 530. She keeps it between 80 and 85 on the freeway all the time and I keep it between 80-95 which puts me just a little ahead of everybody else. I've always thought that if you go just a little faster than everyone else around you it keeps you on your toes and alert and gives more of a sense of what's going on around you. BTW no at fault accidents in over 12 years and 8 of those years included us driving 40k plus miles each delivering drycleaning in POS Vans for our business.
Just my 2cents on speed

My Ride: 2010 535d with all the trimmings
In my BMW 04 530D Un-restricted 260 Kph 161 Mph Smooth as silk. clocked at 161.55
On a completely different machine! a GSXR 1300cc restricted clocked at 194mph
All on a closed track of course
I ain't crazy enough to endanger other people on a public road.
I usually just cruise around the speed limit on public roads but I had to see what my 530 could do on the track
For a deisel the 530 can certainly shift and boy can it leave loads of rubber on the ground

Diesel is the way to go these days.... i know the speedo is a lot off when over the 260kmh, but i've taken mine to c.a. 2mm differ from the number 1 on the fuel dial....
Wish i could say 280kmh, but then i would be lying...
They'll give me my licence back 15th of January, and at that time its too cold to speed in Iceland, i'll try to get a GPS reading on it someday...

How do you almost get busted at 150mph and where were you able to do that?

Where in VA did you get your car that fast? I live in NOVA and there's always so much traffic and cops everywhere... Let me know and we'll race sometime
my buddies and i were coming back from Roanoke to Richmond and we were driving at night time. no traffic whatsoever at night time and road condition is smooth untill you reach richmond. for less than 2 hr from roanoke to richmond, i saw two cops.
