Just did the Euro delivery on a 530i 2 weeks ago. Manual. A little over 1,000 miles and the computer showed 24.6 mpg.
First time I put gas in it I was down just a hair below a half tank. 60 euros or about $80. I laughed like hell. Would have been about $150 for a full tank.
Euro delivery ia a blast. Only problem is now it will still be another 4 or 5 weeks until I get to drive it again!

My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
Mixing both highway and local, I show a reading of 19 plus per gallon, if I use a higher octane of 93 the mileage goes up slightly.

My Ride: 2005 545i born July 13, 2005, Jet Black with Black Dakota leather interior, 6 speed manual transmission, with sports package, premium sound package, cold weather package and satellite prep...persistence overcomes resistence!
I am at 1300 mi (so just past breakin) - normal mix is 70/30 highway and average about 20mpg - however, been off this week and doing city (read suburban) driving - can do no better than 16 mpg - from what i have been reading does it seem that the sport package has a material impact on mpg for the 545...? As per the sig, i have a 545 w/sport and 6 spd manual...

My Ride: 2006 530 manual Sport, NAV, Premium, Sirius, Shades, Split Seat, Al Cube trim
First 2 tanks after return from ED getting 25.6 mpg over mixed 72 mile round trip driving. I am very happy with the straight six....if you drive conservatively it gets great mileage, but if you punch it (manual transmission) it will move. My 5er gets better mileage than my beater PT (20-22 mpg).

My Ride: 535d Eccelsa, 05 2005 (built 12-04), sapphireblack, beige dakota leather, electric seats, poplar wood trim, sport suspension, 124 style 18" alloys, differentiated f/r runflat tyres, steptronic, adaptive light control, bi-xenon, BMW PRO nav, cd, cd changer, electric-foldable and automatic antidazzle rear mirrors, automatic antidazzle internal rear mirror, adjustable central armrest, BT, Hifi Professional LOGIC7 , extended functions aircon, full lighting package, green comfort fascia on windshield, PDC park distance control, voice control, CPT9000 car phone, BMW Assist, BMW On-line, BMW Tracking, alarm system, programmable remote controls.
Just a consideration about manual/auto tranny. Before ordering my 530d I used for one week a loaner 530d, built 2003, with a manual tranny. In one week I drove it for about 2.000 km, 70% high speed highway and 30% town cruising (in rush hours), exactly as I do every bloody business week since some years.
The onboard computer showed, after one week, 8,4 liters/100 km or close to 27,90 ml/US gallon; when I got my autotranny 530d, in one year I never was able to do better than 22,00 ml/US gallon (average consumption from day one).
With the same percentage of highway and downtown use, in the same conditions, my 535d (supplied only with autotranny) is doing a little bit better: on average, since day one, I'm getting now around 24 miles per Us gallon, notwithstanding the improved performances.
I do not complain about 535 consumption; I believe they are pretty good for the performance of the car and for my very un-economical driving style. But, apparently, there is a huge difference in consumption between manual and auto tranny: the second one is costing you, on average, at least 15-20% more fuel.
Any other has similar experience?

I only have 1400 miles on, but so far I've been averaging about 16 MPG. My foot is? heavy
It's a bunch better than my Range Rover though, that thing sucks gas like a 747.
