No joke, I just saw a gas station (Mobile) in my area that is charging $3.75 per gallon for 91 octane.

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY WHERE, IN THIS AREA, OVER $3.00 per gallon for every grade is the norm! The day has finally come.

The latest news I'm seeing is that legislature may be enacted that allows the final refining process to be skipped for a brief period until adequate capacity can be cobbled back together.? That should be popular with the environmentalists...? (not)

Screw the environmentalists. They are in large measure responsible for the supply/distribution situation we are in now.

Oh... they'll get no love from me either, but I expect some measure of backlash if this comes to pass. Funny thing is, if this is the workaround - shouldn't gas become cheaper? We're skipping a shipping step and an entire processing phase - the phase being cited for these recent exhorbitant increases.

Whatever you guys will say, as China and the Russians will soon get into the demoratic western style of living anything under $10/gallon will be nice!

Maybe 520d will be a killer car soon?

We should have built more refineries, but those environmentalist curbed it years back. Arab oil is mostly dirty so requires more refining. Venezula and Canadain oil is much better but more expensive. National reserve release to small; therefore a political move. We're screwed. I guess if you can afford a petro bimmer, you can afford the gas price spike.

As for me, I'm taking the Camry to work now and bringing lunch from home.

Does anybody else's range fluctuate drastically based on immediate gas mileage? Seems strange that it doesn't take a broader overall view.

Filled up my tank tonight before the next price push...A friend of mine owns a few Getty gas stations and told me that they were all raising prices tomorrow morning an additional $.60 per gallon..after raising them $.14 today! I paid $3.09 per gallon tonight...in the morning it will be $3.69! Any bets on when we hit $4? Within the next week?

Never thought we would ever get to this level...it's nuts...

$ 4 / gallon :thumbsdown: 1 euro = $ 1,25 and 1 gallon = 3,78 litres.

So 1 gallon would cost ? 4,73 which is about ? 1,25 / litre.

We Europeans pay now ? 1,30 - 1,40 / litre (about $ 5,20 / gallon).

1 mile = 1,6 km

So if your car uses a avarege of 10 litres / 100 km, that is about 26,3 miles/gallon.

Luckily we drive good milage BMW's

But do notice that the iDrive gives better values than the real life.
Check this with the tripmeter and and gaspump!

Its all in how you drive.
On average in city i get between 19-22mpg ... highway i get over 30mpg

after taking my 900mile trip from fort myers, to KSC to tampa, back to ksc, to orlando to ksc, to orlando, to ksc, then back to fort myers ... i totaled 37mpg

I usually get right below 400 miles on a tank, sometimes as high as 420miles in city driving. HOWEVER since i was in quite a hurry running through horendous traffic today, i managed to drain the tank empty in 299 miles - thats ~16-17 mpg.... its all in how you drive.
I do expect my mpg to rise soon though, once it gets a bit cooler. right now our average temperature is 92-95*F during the day, and mid 80's at night.

mine's a 6speed manual '06 530i
