i've actually been using the mpg gauge alot lately, and when i pay close attention to it while driving, i can reach 450 miles on a tank.... i try to accelerate and try to NOT peg it at 12mpg .. trying to keep it above 15/20mpg .. pretty hard sometimes, but well worth the while .. also gives you a better understanding of the gear selection, and when to shift up/down.

My mileage has increased slightly since break-in. I just hit 4000 miles. I get more than 400 miles between fill-ups and I don't run it to the point that I'm running on vapor.

Since I keep a spreadsheet, I've noticed that I lost ~2MPG after lowering the tire pressure from the full load to the passenger-only loading pressure. The ride is softer but I may increase it back to what is indicated on the door sticker to get the extra economy given the insane antics at the gas stations.

I'm at about 3900 miles now.

do you mind forwarding me a copy of the spreadsheet - or do you know where i can find some decent ones?
i have a stack of gas receipts with the milage on recorded on the back that have yet to be entered into some sort of spreadsheet or milage log book.

thanks,

24K miles on my 545i, 17.5mpg avg, half city half freeway. $2.86 per gallon for 92 octane in Oregon yesterday. $48 gets me around 325 miles. Worth every penny.

I use Excel and basically just put the date, the mileage, the number of gallons, the cost per gallon, and the vendor of the gasoline. I'm lazy so the formula to derive the MPG is only entered for cells where I have values entered. I'm basically just subtracting to get the mileage driven since last fillup and dividing by the number of gallons pumped most recently.

With a good mix of Highway and City driving, I get between 9 and 10litres per 100km (not sure what that is in mpg) ...

Ooops, miscalcuation on my part ... I'm using, on average, 12.19litres per 100km (not between 9 and 10 as previously noted) ...

I reset my mpg on last tank of gas. I am getting 24.4 now.
I paid over 50 bucks, omg, I never thought I'd pay that much for gas..
