The push start button - how has this gadget actually advanced mankind?

Oh, and nowhere for my wife to put her handbag/purse/stuff

One of the reasons for having the push start button is so that people can't over crank the ignition when starting the vehicle. It's quicker and safer for the vehicle.

+2

Unless her bag is insanely large then it goes in the trunk or back seat.

I don't get the questions you're asking, our E60s are "stupid" because there's no room to put bags and other misc belongings?

Even with the key you cannot over turn the car. Quick turn the key for 1 second and the car automatically starts (like the start button). Turn too long and nothing happens.

Worst "execution" - Nav function

Worst idea - start button

Worst idea or execution - iDrive and Nav..way too complicated to find an address. For everyone that will lambaste me, try MMI.

That works too, but sometimes I have found that turning it quickly doesn't start up the car right away and I had hold it down. Not on my current car, but with my dad's ex 740iL.

Come to think of it, when I was working at the dealership the X3s needed the key to be held down in order to get the car started. I think I even had to do the same with the Z4s, I need to go play with them again and see how it works, but I know exactly what you're talking about with the quick turn and the auto starter.

The little warning sticker by the cup holder symbolizing how we should not put wine glasses in them. Well, duh.

I like that one too!! Never did understand the reasoning but then I figured maybe it was a little jab at the French by the German engineers! No silly wine glasses here, beer cans only...

The worst thing about the E60 is how the temperature controls have preset temperature numbers written around the dials. All other BMW models except the 6-series and Z4 display the temperature readout digitally.
