Called bmwusa(CS, automated) and Dealer-Salesperson : At VPC but NO INFO af arrival at showroom.
Mine is supposed to arrive at SC-VPC Mar. 29-31st-per dealer
I am in 1st batch at my dealer quota and supposed to pickup by 5th-7th at chicago-per my dealer

What's holding up our LCI, anyone knows why? may be some stupid and ridiculous reasons,
Per dealer sometimes this happens with new and 1st batch of autos arriving in USA
Anyone in USA picked up LCI. Please post a new topic once anyone does: " 1st PICK-UP" OR "1st ARRIVAL at DEALERSHIP"

Maybe you should regard this in a positive way, i.e. they're taking extra time to make sure every detail is perfect. Patience is a virtue...

Heard that the cars are being held because EPA certification is not complete. If true this isn't the first time that's happened.

That is what my dealer in chicago said that it happens sometimes with the first batch.
WEIRD and STUPID. This is not a totally new car.
They should have arrived at the dealerships and stayed instead of at some remote place near the atlantic shore.

Maybe they are holding there and If they find any problem "are they going to dump in the ocean or return to Germany?.

I was wondering when any EPA inspection is done. Is it at the port or VPC. If our cars are at the VPC, does it mean that the cars have passed whatever EPA inspection is mandated? I would like to know that I am done with the government and their red tape and delays. Anyone know?

Check your dealer inventory, if they have tons of MY07 left maybe BMWNA will hold until those are donw considerably.
I assume your dealer's MY08 are not all spoken for. Can you imagine trying to sell MY07 with MY08 next to them?

Having purchased a MY08, I'd 'guess' that, side by side, with the price savings (especially lease) that will surely accompany the '07, the '07 will sell pretty well. The look is nearly identical, the options are largely the same, and the engine has been thoroughly tested, unlike LCI engines (528/535). Of course, the poor sales report on the present 5 may prove me wrong, but I think a strong case could be made for the '07 sitting side by side with the '08. And I have an '08 on the way....

I may be naive in these matters, but it seems logical to me that BMW would be trying to get the MY 08 cars to us as fast as possible. Many of them are already sold, and no one gets paid until we take delivery.
