Is there anyway to cover up the splice? I'd try my luck at a different dealer myself. With any luck maybe your car can qualify as a lemon so you can find yourself in a new car.

a splice into a speaker wire shouldn't cause all that stuff. There's another post somewhere here that says the stereo amps are analog, not digital.

All your problems sound like some kinda controller problem. I would undo the splice and take it somewhere else.

Herb,

While I respect your skills ( thanks for all the work on my M3) All those mods to your stereo was flirting with disaster with iDrive.

My plan would be to restore it to stock and return to the dealer for repair. Did you take it to SouthBay or LB?

See you next week....buying a 545i tomorrow from Southbay replacing the TopazBlue 330.

no i-drive issues at all (touch wood)

Herb, can I ask, are you an experienced Auto-electrician? I am not doubting your skills, but I had my E60 in for a "quote" for a new hifi and the ICE shops I took it to, all very professional, all said what a nightmare new cars like E-class, E60's, X5's are to work on due to their hyper sensitive fibre optic network, and those guys do it for a living !! I personally would not even consider any DIY on the E60, just my 2 cents.

if you have cut or trapped any of the fibre cables, even without realising it, then I would fully expect all sorts of weird issues.

hope you get things fixed soon
