Unhappy

Hi all,
Just asking your opinion on a possible course of action

I bought my car from a dealer who confirmed over the phone it has all the listed options (as advertised) including an iPod Aux input. I paid a deposit, but on collection (NO Aux Input). In order not to lose the sale they offered to retrofit it for free, and they booked me in, and gave me a New E90 loaner over the New Year holiday whilst mine is done They needed to keep it over two days to update the software.

I went to collect my car today expecting the Aux input to be there; Instead I discovered they have installed an Ipod interface (MOST bus) and not an Aux input, which means I lost my CD changer (They left it for me in the boot). I also lost the LED Eye Brow in the process

I do not know whether I should ask them to fit my CD changer back and retrofit an Aux input. OR
Just be grateful for having an even more expensive upgrade (without paying for it) and go sell my CD changer on ebay.

The advantage for me are:
1- I can control my iPod from i-Drive
2- Sound quality is slightly better than Aux input
3- I get to sell my CD changer and make some money
4-I got a free software update to V 23.02 (I think).

Disadvantages:
1- I am tied to iPods (No other MP3 player will work)
2- Lost my CD changer

Also, lost my LED Eye Brows - although I hear there maybe a fix for this.

What would you do

No-brainer really. Keep the ipod connector.

keep it as is and get the Ipod. It was only a matter of time.

I will sound better.

The fact that the single cd can now play MP3 gives you a great choice.

Load up the Ipod and enjoy.

I got no changer and sirious.

I have yet to decide if I want the Ipod hook up.

THe diversity of sat radio is wonderful.

clear vote for the ipod.... iknow your tied with the ipod, but u still have the CD changer with you any time you need it and the Aux-in should be less than 200 GBP... and can easly be installed, then you have all mp3 players plus ipod...
the ipod interface is a huge jump in sound quality as i understand and not a small one..
cd changer holds 6 cds with about 20 tracks each, 120 tracks, you can put all those on mp3 cd and put it in the dash cd player, i have rearly ever used my cd changer ever since i got mp3....
i say if you still want the aux pay for it and keep the ipod interface,,, or just give it a try im sure you will like it and find the aux-in unnecessary....

And to add to what everyone else is saying: you can always put a bunch of MP3's on a DVD and play them in your Nav DVD slot. I'd recommend keeping the iPod.

Keep the MOST. You can easily refit the CD changer yourself and sell the MOST interface if you don't like the iPod. It's largely plug-and-play (there's a couple of DIY threads on this forum about fitting it).

Sound quality-wise, the CD will sound better than any iPod. On the other hand, if one wants to listen to music, a car cabin is hardly the best place in the world for that.

Third option is to ask dealer to install Aux input and keep the iPod MOST adapter.

What would you do
Depends on your maturity, your attention span, your audiophilia and your "something for nothing" mentality.
