What sort of problems get you a software upgrade??

Model Year: 2007
I know that BMW UK will only upgrade your software if you have problems, but what are these problems?
I would like to get this done and add MP3 capability to my car too, but it would be good to go in and say that I have a problem that they know about and let them offer the software update.
