Hi,

I've been lurking for some time, and appreciate this great forum... I've learnt a lot -- primarily that my dealer isn't aware of the myriad of options available to me. I've done some reading / searching but haven't found answers to my satisfaction for a few questions, so I thought I'd start a couple of threads with each of my queries. (Thanks in advance.)

Q: I've seen multiple references to the "shadow-line" feature on the exterior of the car. Apologies for my implied obtuseness, but I can't see what this feature is. I suspect it has something to do with whether or not you have a silver accent around the side windows but am not certain. I'd appreciate a description of this feature and a pointer to photos that illustrate the with vs. the with-out on this feature.

You are correct in your assumption. You can view cars with/without the shadowline on the members photo gallery. Welcome to the best E60 forum on the planet!

Thanks. So to be clear, the shadow line is the absence of the silver trim? Is the shadow line another color in its place, or is it literally just the removal of a feature?

At the top of the E60 forum page, click on search and put "shadowline" in the box. There are examples there.

correct, the standard package includes the silver trim around the windows. Shadow line is a flat black, kind of like is used on the trim running upa nd down between the two windows.

I think Iceman has a gloss black trim instead of the standard shadowline. You can see his pics in the gallery...

I wish we had the option to have the chrome or not, I think it would accent the rims Im getting.

Yep.
Standard = chrome window surroundings.
Shadow line = dull black window surroundings, no chrome.
Individual shadow line = shiny shadow line, painted black.

Individual shadow line comes with Individual cares as standard as well as on Emmys.
It can be ordered as a stand alone option in Germany.

Shadow line comes with the sports package in the US (AFAIK) and can't be ordered seperate, just in Europe.
In Europe you can order shadow line as a stand alone option on all cars.
