A guy at work thought my i-Drive was "awesome." I don't think he gets out much. He still says "awesome" afterall.
My wife compliments the car (clean, shiny, leather smells good, etc.), likes the heated seats when she's in a little dress and it's cool out. That one probably doesn't count. She also humors me when I drag her out to the garage to gaze in awe at the huge difference painting my exhaust tips black makes.
My brother was not that impressed. I had an e46 coupe in the same color just prior, so his only comment when he saw this one was, "It's big."
I used to get a lot of strangers approaching me when I had a 911, but around here a BMW sedan is just not that special.

Wow Calvin, we married the same type of women. Every time I do something to my car, I drag my wife out to look at it she just goes "that's nice" and walks back in the house. She may ask "how much?" but that's about it.

I gotta say I get lots of looks, even in rich Connecticut here, especially when my 5 is cleaned up. There isn't a Jetta, Civic or Maxima that doesn't try to pass me or cut me off regardless of my mph. IMHO, a BMW evokes envy no matter what, some good natured, some not. I don't care what anyone says, everyone wants a Bimmer since it is the ultimate driving machine. Those who like cars or know me appreciate why I drive one, those who don't have class envy, which is a very unattractive trait. The latter is the reason I never park next to anyone. At work, I get typical good natured snide comments about being a BMW owner but should I get mad? Just reinforces my feeling that everyone wants one.
