I have a sport package so I was thinking if the rear differential on 550 is limited slip or it's just normal one. I have radiator on rear side of the differential.
I was looking to replace fluid there so if it limited slip I wanted to use this :BMW SAF-XJ + FM Booster, yes expensive but that sh.. is only working, at least I know since I had E46 M3.

Thanks

It should be an open/normal diff. Afaik the only e60 with limited slip diff stock was the M5.

I think they dont need mechanic limited slip differential.
They have all the elektronic version.
Alsonthey took the brake to stop several wheel
When they need.
Could be the radiqtor to cool the differential oil?

I dont know if it is the still old fashion way to tell if it is limited is to jack up both rear and spin the tires. If spin one side and the other side spins the same direction , then it is limited. If spin opposite then its not. Atleast this is how we did it back in the days with our 240sx's with the VLSD's.

Has anyone tried swapping the M5 diff into a 550i?
